Alexander technique. Therapist conducts a one-to- one session in the Alexander technique with a male patient. The curvature of the patient's spine when he bends over is being examined. The Alexander technique is a therapy aimed at teaching people the correct posture and how to move efficiently. The technique was developed by F. Matthias Alexan- der in the 1920s,based on the belief that bad patterns of body movement may contribute to the development of disease. The technique attempts to release unnecessary muscle tension. It also aims to treat the severity of a wide range of disorders including back pain, asthma and stuttering. Photographed in Amstelveen, the Netherlands | |
