Cupping therapy. Patient undergoing cupping treatment. The air in a glass jar is being heated before the vessel is placed on the skin. As the air in the jar cools it contracts to form a partial vacuum that produces a rounded area of inflammation and draws blood to the skin surface. This is an ancient alternative therapy.
