Cupping therapy. Man undergoing cupping treatment and acupuncture. The air in the glass jars was heated before they were placed on the skin. As the air cooled it contracted to form a partial vacuum that produced the rounded areas of inflammation in which blood is being drawn to the skin surface. Acupuncture involves placing needles at specific points to restore healthy energy flow around the body. These are ancient alternative therapies.
