MODEL RELEASED. Stained toenails from ulcer treatment. These nails are stained brown due to potassium permanganate solution used to treat a leg ulcer. Potassium permanganate is an oxidising agent with disinfectant,deodorising and astringent properties. Strips of cotton or gauze were soaked in an extremely dilute solution and wrapped around the weeping ulcer. Potassium permanganate is also good for cleaning and treating blistering skin conditions such as infected eczema,abscesses and fungal infections such as athlete's foot
