Blister after verruca treatment. View of a blister on the foot of a ten year old boy one week after cryosurgery (cold treatment) to remove a verruca. The verruca (or plantar wart) is seen at the lower left edge of the blister. Liquid nitrogen is used to freeze the verruca which is lifted off as the blister forms. This technique causes little scarring,although the treated area may show up as a patch of paler skin. Plantar warts are hard,rough-surfaced areas caused by a papillomavirus,which have been compressed by the pressure of the body on the sole of the foot. Verrucas may also be removed by laser therapy or by applying patches containing salicylic acid
