Injection for fasciitis. A doctor injects a corticosteroid drug into the sole of a patient's foot to relieve the symptoms of plantar fasciitis. Fasciitis is the inflammation of fascia - fibrous connective tissue that surrounds muscle. Plantar fasciitis affects the sole of the foot and is usually caused by strain or injury to the area.
