Blood sugar level tester for use by diabetic patients resting on a chart. This device measures the level of glucose in the blood. Diabetes is a disorder in which the production of the hormone insulin, which regulates blood glucose levels,is reduced. Diabetic patients need to regularly check their blood glucose levels and inject themselves with insulin if the level is abnormal. To use this device, the skin must be pricked to release a drop of blood. The chip (protruding from the device) is then held against the blood, and it sucks up the amount required for the test. The blood glucose level is then displayed on an LCD screen (not seen). This is the DEX Glucometer, made by Bayer | |
