MODEL RELEASED. Hearing test. Young girl in a soundproof cabin undergoing a hearing test. An audiologist is using an audiometer (lower centre) to produce sound at different frequencies. She is testing the ability of the girl to hear over a range of frequencies. The girl indicates every time she hears a sound. The audiologist lowers the volume of sound until it is no longer audible to her,a measure of her hearing threshold at each frequency. This type of hearing test, known as pure-time audiometry,is used to assess the extent of a patient's hearing loss and to investigate possible causes. Photographed in Rovereto,Italy | |
