Donor kidney preparation. Surgeon using forceps to prepare a blood vessel of a donor kidney prior to a transplant operation. This renal blood vessel will be joined to the equivalent blood vessel in the patient. The kidney is being stored in ice to maintain its condition. Donor kidneys must also be flushed with perfusion solution and have their fat removed prior to transplantation.
