Laser eye surgery. Profile of a female patient undergoing ophthalmic laser treatment. The head of the patient is secured to prevent movement; the laser is aimed using a retinal camera, and its beam is delivered in a series of pulses. Lasers have a variety of uses in ophthalmic surgery, including photo-cauterisation of blood vessels in retinopathy, and in the treatment of detached retinas. Such treatments do not usually require anaesthesia, and may be performed on an out-patient basis. Same as M570/055 but different source | |
