An intravenous drip inserted in a vein on a patient's hand. An intravenous drip is used for the continuous administration of blood,plasma,saline,glucose solution or drugs. A type of hollow needle known as a butterfly cannula is inserted into a vein and connected up to a bag or bottle suspended above the patient. The rate of flow is adjusted according to the rate of drips seen in a transparent chamber in the tube (not shown here),which also serves as a trap for bubbles
