| Tilt table diagnosis. Multiple exposure of a male patient in a tilt table used to diagnose unexplained blackouts and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME - Myalgic Encephalomyelitis). The table was developed by Professor Anne Kenny at the Royal Victoria Infirmary,Newcastle-upon-Tyne,England. The table employs a vacuum cleaner to apply negative pressure to lower parts of the body. While monitored,the patient is tilted up to reproduce symptoms of loss of consciousness in people suffering dizziness,blackouts,and ME. If the patient has a fainting episode or low blood pressure during testing,symptoms enable diagnosis of the condition and help determine the treatment | |
