This condition is characterised by the presence of only one,or only one complete,sex chromosome. The normal sex karyotype for a female is XX,those with Turner syndrome have only a single functioning X chromosome (bottom right). Symptoms include short stature,infertility,web neck and a broad chest with widely spaced nipples. Growth hormones can be given to increase stature and oestrogen can be given to develop secondary sexual characteristics.
