MODEL RELEASED. Scrotal wound and post-operative bruising on a boy's scrotum (lower left). This resulted from an orchidopexy operation. This operation involves moving an undescended testis (testicle) from the groin to its correct position in the scrotum. The two testes normally descend naturally. When they fail to descend (cryptorchidism),the condition must be corrected before puberty to allow normal development of these male reproductive organs. It is thought that the higher temperature within the body interferes with the production of sperm, the male sex cells. In addition, undescended testes may be more at risk of testicular cancer | |
