MODEL RELEASED. Torn biceps muscle. Abnormal lump in the upper arm of a 59-year-old male patient caused by the rupturing of one of the heads of the biceps muscle. Internal damage has caused a bruise, where broken blood vessels leak into surrounding tissue. The biceps has two heads that attach the muscle to the bones of the shoulder. Rupture is usually due to a trauma, although it may be caused by rheumatoid arthritis or local steroid injections. This condition causes minimal disability as the remaining head can perform most of the muscle's tasks | |
