MODEL RELEASED. Splint on the leg of a 36 year old woman to correct foot-drop,a condition in which the foot hangs loosely from the ankle. The splint holds the foot up,allowing normal walking. The foot-drop was caused by laminectomy surgery. This is the removal of part of some of the vertebrae (bones) of the spine. It is done to treat compression of the spinal cord, for instance by a tumour or slipped disc. It often takes several weeks to recover completely from this operation, but most patients can walk after a few days | |
