Sutured ear. A sutured (or stitched) ear in a twenty year-old man suffering from a rugby injury. The ear is swollen with blood caused by the injury (known as haematoma or cauliflower ear) and stitched with a blue thread. The material used in suturing depends on the strength and time required to heal. An injury such as this will require a strong (metal or plastic) and thick (up to 1 millimetre) thread to hold the ear together | |
