Dislocated collar bone. Shoulder of a man aged 20 showing a dislocated right collar bone (clavicle). The affected area is blue from bruising; the dis- location has occurred at upper left where the bruising appears yellow/brown. This is dislocation of the acromioclavicular joint, the point where the clavicle (collar bone) articulates with the scapula (shoulder blade). Dislocation (luxation) is the displacement from their normal position of the bones of a joint. The bones are restored to their normal position by manipulation, which may require a local or general anaesthetic. Shoulder dislocation is a common sports injury | |
