Hernia is the protrusion of an organ through a weak area in the muscle or other tissue that normally contains it. Epigastric hernia is caused commonly by a congenital weakness in muscles of the central upper abdomen: the intestine (yellow) bulges out at a point between the navel & breast- bone.
