Allergy to ringworm treatment. View of the groin of a 62-year-old man showing ringworm infection and an allergic reaction to its treatment. Ringworm or tinea is a fungal infection of the skin. It is highly contagious and is spread by direct contact or through infected materials. Infection of the genitals as seen here is known as tinea cruris or "jock itch". The typical red, itchy ring- like rash can be seen most clearly at upper left. This infection has been treated with the antifungal drug clotrimazole, applied locally. This has caused an allergic reaction, resulting in the extensive rash over the entire genital area | |
