MODEL RELEASED. Varicose vein treatment bruises on the legs of a 51 year old woman. Varicose veins are veins that have become distended, lengthened and tortuous. This happens due to failure of the valves that prevent blood from falling to the feet due to gravity. The pooling of blood stretches the walls of the veins, leading to their twisted appearance. These varicose veins are treated by the VNUS procedure,in which a catheter is inserted into the vein and heats it from the inside. This causes the vein to collapse and close. Once this has happened, the remaining healthy veins take over the transport of blood back to the heart | |
