Arterial ulcer. Arterial ulcer on a patient's ankle,exuding pus and surrounded by bruised and inflamed tissue. The ulcer shows the "punched out" appearance typical of arterial ulcers. Arterial ulcers are infected open sores caused by inadequate blood supply. They are often painful and inflamed,and are more difficult to cure than to prevent.
