Ileal polyp, pill camera view. This is a benign (non-cancerous) growth on the wall of the ileum, the last part of the small intestine. Usually they cause no symptoms, but some polyps may bleed, causing blood in the faeces and abdominal pain. Some polyps may turn cancerous, and once they are diagnosed it is advisable to have regular checks to determine whether or not they have done so. Polyps can usually be removed surgically if they are causing symptoms. A pill camera is a pill- sized camera that is swallowed to image the digestive tract | |
