MODEL RELEASED. Psoriasis lesions on the arm of a 37-year-old woman. Psoriasis is a common skin disease involving a large increase in the speed of epidermal (outer skin layer) cell production, which causes scaly pink patches to form that may become infected as they are itchy. Psoriasis may be caused by certain infections, stress or be drug-induced (as in this case). The drug that has indirectly caused this case is cyclosporin,an immunosuppressant taken to limit rejection after organ transplant. One side effect of the drug is that it causes photosensitivity, which may manifest itself as psoriasis | |
