Pityriasis rosea. View of the trunk of a 27 year- old man covered with a red rash due to the common skin complaint,Pityriasis rosea. The cause of this disorder is thought to be due to a viral infection. Pityriasis rosea rash often appears on the trunk and upper parts of the limbs of young people and may be contagious. It is seasonal,occurring sporadically in spring and autumn. A localized area of coalescing spots precedes the appearance of a generalized rash by three to ten days (herald patch).
