Giant pigmented naevus or mole,a skin lesion caused by an abnormality or overactivity of the melanocytes,the skin cells that produce the pigment melanin. Moles vary considerably in size,with the smaller type being more common & prolific. Adults have an average of 15-20 moles. They are unusual at birth & tend to appear in childhood & adolescence.
