A vascular naevus, also known as a strawberry mark,on the forehead of a six month old child. Vascular naevi are caused by an abnormal collection of blood vessels and usually appear after birth. Strawberry marks are harmless,do not require any treatment and disappear spontaneously shortly after birth. They may require some treatment in cases where a naevus covers an eye which may lead to defective sight. The naevus in this case is becoming grey in its centre, the first sign of its spontaneous resolution | |
