Rubella. A rash of red spots on a man's back caused by rubella (German measles). Rubella is a viral disease that mostly affects young children, causing trivial symptoms and a rash. In adults symptoms are more troublesome, and include a rash, slight fever, enlargement of lymph nodes and sometimes inflammation of the joints. There is no specific treatment but the infection usually disappears spontaneously after several days. Rubella causes most damage when it infects women during the first four months of pregnancy. In such cases the baby may be born with severe abnormalities or may die during early infancy | |
