| German measles. View of a skin rash in a child suffering from German measles (Rubella). Rubella is quite different from common measles. As seen here,the viral rash is not serious or acute. It occurs usually in children aged 6-12,appearing first on the face and spreading to the trunk and limbs. After a few days it disappears. When contracted in adulthood,symptoms of Rubella may be more marked including a headache and fever. The danger of German measles is to unborn infants,when the pregnant mother contracts the illness. The affected infant may be born with many defects and abnormalities. Vaccination against Rubella provides an effective and long-lasting immunity | |
