This disease is a chronic inflammatory disorder of connective tissue that causes injury to the skin,joints,kidneys,nervous system and mucous membranes. A characteristic butterfly rash or erythema may be present across the cheeks and nose. The disease may begin with joint pain,fever and malaise. It is an autoimmune disorder in which the body's immune system attacks the connective tissue. Trea- tment aims to reduce inflammation & to alleviate symptoms; there is no cure. Corticosteroids and immunosuppressant drugs are often prescribed
