Klippel-Trenaunay-Weber syndrome. Hypertrophy of a patient's right leg with port-wine stains around the knee. This congenital (present from birth) syndrome, also called Klippel-Trenaunay syndrome, leaves the patient with one limb (normally a leg) larger than the other (hypertrophy). The port-wine stains are other symptoms, along with vascular disorders like varicose veins. Treatments such as elastic compression garments are used for the vein disorders. Aids such as heel inserts are used to manage problems with a hypertrophic leg. Surgical intervention is rare, and only occurs in severe cases | |
