MODEL RELEASED. Cystic hygroma. Child with a benign fluid-filled growth of the lymphatic tissues (cystic hygroma). This congenital condition (present before birth) is usually evident by three years of age. Cystic hygromas may be single or multiple and are normally slow- growing. They may spontaneously reduce or even disappear. Treatment involves the removal of the abnormal tissue. However, cystic hygromas often invade other neck structures and in these cases the use of steroids, radiation therapy and chmotherapy agents have been used with limited success | |
