Blister on the toe of a child in hand,foot and mouth disease (HFM),a common disease of young children caused by coxsackievirus infection. HFM tends to break out in small epidemics in nursery schools during the summer months. It produces a relatively mild illness,with symptoms of loss of appetite,blistering of the hands,feet & inside of the mouth & a mild fever. No treatment is given,other than mild pain-killing drugs for painful blisters. The illness is not related to foot-and-mouth disease of cattle | |
