Squint corrected. Close-up of a patient's eye two days after surgery to correct a squint (strabismus). The red colour is caused by bleeding in the eye due to the trauma of the operation. A squint is a condition in which the eyes look in different direction, causing double vision or loss of vision in the deviant eye. Squints in adults may be symptomatic of a more serious condition, such as multiple sclerosis or stroke, and require investigation of the underlying cause. Squints in children are usually caused by a breakdown in the mechanism that aligns the eyes. Surgery or special glasses are needed to prevent permanent loss of vision occurring in one of the eyes | |
