Immunoscintigram revealing secondary cancer (metastases) of the spleen arising from a primary ovarian cancer. The scintigram was obtained using a monolonal antibody raised specifically against ovarian cancer. The antibody was labelled with the radio-isotope Iodine 131 and injected intravenously. Radioactive emissions from the isotope are subsequently mapped by scintigraphy (gamma camera scanning). The increased concentration of the monoclonal antibody in the spleen is represented by the bright red, pink and white regions on the image | |
