Lung cancer cell,coloured transmission electron micrograph (TEM). This cell has the typical morphology of a cancer cell. The nucleus (yellow) is greatly enlarged and multilobed and there are many small projections coming off of the cell wall. The nucleus contains chromatin (brown),a complex of DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) and proteins. The most common cause of lung cancer is cigarette smoke.
