High grade non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Coloured light micrograph (LM) of a lymph node lymphoid tissue section with diffuse B-cell lymphoma,a type of high grade non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (cancer). In this, the large B-cells (B-lymphocyte white blood cells) are widely spread through the lymphoid tissue. Unlike low grade lymphoma this is a highly malignant form of cancer. It causes lymph node enlargement, headache and skin ulceration. Treatment is by radiotherapy,anti-cancer drugs and,if necessary, bone marrow transplant. The B- cells cannot be distinguished with the Haemotoxylin and Eosin stain used. Magnification: x200 at 35mm size | |
