Woman suffering from chloasma (melasma),the appearance of large,brown patches on the skin due to a local increase in the dark pigment melanin. The condition can occur during pregnancy (when the nipples also become darker),as a side effect of oral contraceptives or during the menopause. The patches usually occur on the forehead,temples and cheeks and are completely harmless.
