Paget's disease of the nipple. Light micrograph of cancerous cells in Paget's disease of the nipple. This is a rare form of breast cancer in which the milk ducts of the nipple become cancerous. Large Paget's cells are seen, which are cancerous cells derived from epithelial (lining) cells from the milk ducts. Paget's disease of the nipple causes flaking skin, itching and burning pain in the affected nipple, which may be mistaken for eczema. This cancer commonly spreads to the rest of the breast. If the cancer is diagnosed early, removal of the tumour may provide a cure. Magnification unknown | |
