Neil Turok. Portrait of professor Neil Turok, mathematician and physicist. Turok is holder of the Chair of Mathematical Physics at Cambridge University,England. He studies the origins of the universe, for example he looks at how structure formed in the universe. This involves working with unified theories of high energy physics which unite the four fundamental forces of the universe: the electromagnetic, gravitational, strong and weak forces. Turok uses cosmological observations, such as the distribution of galaxies,to test theories of the early universe and conversely he uses fundamental unified theories to understand cosmology.
