Christopher P. Jones,American computer engineer & creator of the artificial intelligence software - the "brain" - for the Voyager spacecraft. Launched in 1977,the two Voyager craft acquired thousands of images & a vast amount of scientific data from encounters with Jupiter,Saturn,Uranus,Neptune & their satellites. Jones (born 1945) is seen in the Capability Demonstration Laboratory at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena,California. Beside him are subsystems of Voyager 3,the disassembled flight spare used during the mission for trouble-shooting its sisters in space.
