| Professor Cyril Hilsum (b.1925),British physicist and electronic engineer. Hilsum was educated at University College,London,from where he gained a degree and a doctorate. In 1945 Hilsum entered research for the UK Government,first on radar and infrared detection systems,then later on semiconductors and flat-panel electronic displays. In 1979 Hilsum was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society,and in 1985 was appointed Director of Research at the General Electric Company (GEC). Photographed in 1993 | |
