Professor Gerald Gabrielse,American antimatter researcher,in 2002. Gabrielse is the chairman of the Department of Physics at Harvard University,Massachusetts,USA. He also leads the ATRAP Collaboration, which tries to create antihydrogen atoms in order to test physics theories. According to current theories, the Big Bang should have created equal amounts of matter and antimatter, which would have annihilated each other instantly. Most of the universe today is made of matter, however. By studying atoms of antihydrogen, the simplest form of antimatter,Gabrielse hopes to find the reasons for this discrepancy. The antihydrogen is made at CERN,Switzerland | |
