R.A. Fisher. Portrait of the English statistician and geneticist,Sir Ronald Aylmer Fisher (1890- 1962). Fisher graduated in mathematics and physics at Cambridge University in 1912. He was appointed statistician at Rothamsted Experimental Station,in charge of 66 years of data on agricultural field trials. Fisher's contributions to statistics include methods of experimental design,work on human inheritance,and the genetics of the rhesus blood factor. In The Genetical Theory of Natural Selection,he showed that Mendel's genetic laws and Darwin's theory of natural selection are in full accord.
