John Ellis (born 1946),British theoretical physicist. Ellis studied mathematics and theoretical physics at Cambridge University. After his PhD he went to California,USA,to carry out postdoctoral research at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Centre (SLAC) and the California Institute of Technology (Caltech). In 1973 he moved to CERN (the European particle physics laboratory),where he led the Theory Division for six years. Ellis helped unify string theory with the Standard Model,invented a type of Feynman diagram known as the penguin diagram,and coined the term Theory of Everything | |
