Albert Einstein (1879-1955). Manipulated image of the famous German-Swiss-US physicist. His mass- energy equation resulted from his 1905 paper on Special Relativity. This paper, with his 1915 General Theory of Relativity, replaced the previously unshakeable Newtonian world view, rewriting our concepts of gravity, space and time. Early work on the photoelectric effect won him the 1921 Nobel Prize for Physics. Emigrating to the USA in 1933,he encouraged the atomic bomb project during the Second World War. Much of his later life was, fruitlessly, devoted to relating the fundamental equations of physics and spent in opposition to the theory of quantum mechanics | |
