Albert Einstein and his wife,Elsa,photographed in the 1920s. Einstein was one of the greatest theoretical physicists in history. In 1905,whilst a patent clerk,he published 3 papers that would lead to his 1921 Nobel Prize: calculations on Brownian motion,the photoelectric effect and Special Relativity. In 1915 he published his Theory of General Relativity,explaining gravity as a distortion of space-time by a mass. In 1933 he moved to America,working on the Manhattan Project in WW2.
