Freeman Dyson. Portrait of the British-American theoretical physicist Freeman John Dyson (born 1923). Educated at Cambridge University,England,Dyson moved to Cornell University,USA,in 1953. He worked on theories of quantum electrodynamics (QED,quantum theories on the interactions between matter and electromagnetic waves) and,in 1948,he showed the QED theories of Feynman,Schwinger and Tomonaga to be versions of a unified theory. He is best known for his many wide-ranging speculations on future science and technology.
