Jeremy Bentham (1748-1832),British philosopher,linguist,political activist and legal scholar. Best known as the founder of utilitarianism,or philosophical radicalism,Bentham was also a propounder of the Suez and Panama canals. Utilitarianism is a form of hedonism in which the objective is greatest happiness for the greatest number of people.
