This entry,dated 10 March 1876,describes his first successful experiment with his new invention,the 'telephone'. The text describes the success of the first experiment and the proceedings of the second. Despite early difficulty in hearing the words of the second experiment,Bell describes the eventual success when he heard his assistant saying "Mr. Bell,do you understand what I say?"
